  • Four Poster Queen Bed
The James Southall Blue Room is located in the front of the house upstairs. This room is the owners' favorite overlooking Richmond Road, St. Bede's Church and other historic Williamsburg area homes. The room features a four-poster rice-carved queen bed, 32" television, iPod docking station and clock radio, and a private bath with a traditional tub/shower.

Reminiscent of the Old South, a rice bed brings back the elegance and intricate carvings of a forgotten era. A wealthy plantation, plentiful wood, a master craftsman and money combined to create a bed to reflect the style and grace of the antebellum south.

James Southall, was an innkeeper of the Raleigh Tavern in Williamsburg in the late 1760's. Since taverns were usually referred to by the name of the tavern keeper, the tavern was call "Southall's" In 1764 & 1769, George Washington noted in his ledger that he "dined at Southall's" and "By supper and club at Shouthall's".
